Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. sold a 20 percent stake in its refinery operations to Italy's ENI and another 15 percent stake to Austria-based OMV, and separately inked an accord to form a new trading joint venture with the two partners. Adnoc Refining, which has a product range that includes liquefied petroleum gas, naphtha, gasoline, jet fuel, gas oil, base oils, fuel oil and petrochemical feedstock such as propylene, expects to achieve better optimisation of systems and better management of international product flows following the establishment Abu Dhabi, UAE – ADNOC Refining took a step closer to building the world’s largest integrated refining and petrochemicals complex, in Ruwais, when it awarded a Pre-Front End Engineering and Designing (Pre-FEED) contract to the Wood Group, a global leader in engineering, ADNOC Refining, an ADNOC subsidiary, produces up to 500,000 metric tons per year of Group III base oil and 100,000 metric tons per year of Group II base oil. ADNOC has now completed API SN approval, dexos1™, ILSAC GF-5, and 0w-20 for full synthetic motor oils and is actively working with additive companies to achieve Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) and European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) formulation approvals. ADNOC is building on its position as one of the least carbon-intensive oil and gas producers in the world by significantly expanding its CCUS programme,  according to Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE minister of state and group CEO of ADNOC.

Adnoc has signed a deal with Penthol to sell high-specification base oil from its refinery in Ruwais, opening a new market for the product in the US. The deal is for an unspecified amount of Group III base oil of which Adnoc is targeting production of 500,000 tonnes a year, together with 100,000 tonnes of Group II base oil.
